Return of the Dragon Movie

This Feb 2025 Tamil movie has brought my  fire back  for writing .

Written and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, Dragon or D.Raghavan starring Pradeep Ranganathan is an interesting ,thrilling emotions stirring  experience. In this age of superstars and six packs movies like this ensures us and  brings out the true spirit of creativity and talent to thrive out like anything is possible but not overnight.

The favorite part of the movie is when hero says I may be the bad guy but not as bad as I would build my castle over someone’s grave. We get many successful stories for inspiration but taking a failure as a lesson for life is also pretty important. Knowing what not to do is also very important along with what needs to be done just like with the traffic rules.

I went to the movie without knowing the cast nor the rating of this movie but, the tension it induced   made me sit in the edge of the seat, made me clap, whistle, and wipe my tears silently.

I am proudly a cinemaphile, or film buff. Movie is not just the entertainment or time pass it shapes our thoughts indeed our actions and henceforth our life too. My early exposure to movies was from radio that is audio movies which Akashavani Mangaluru radio station would broadcast on Sundays at 4PM.In those childhood days at our grandpa’s house I and my brother would listen to movies and guess the cast by hearing their voice and also build images in our heads on their emotions in the voice.

Coming back to Dragon, movie starts lethargically showcasing  how someone can kill time doing nothing and suddenly the beat rises after a heartbreaking love breakup “Yendi vittu Pona”(why did you leave me sad song).As they say bad things happen for good, if we take the guts to  stand up for our self .Here hero has a bag pack of backlogs(48) in engineering which doesn’t let him move forward in his life.

In the urge of irresistible 5G speed of our generation Dragon takes the shortcut or(“thirut vali”) and gets things done and lands himself a job ,house, car and was about to marry a  pretty rich girl and that is the time when his karma comes and hurls him back to college through his principal  with a do or die situation to clear all his back logs along with the attendance.

WOOOO…ohooo…what a pressure to study so many subjects so fast , those scenes made me nostalgic reminding me of my exam days . 

It was thrilling to see him juggling things .He almost did everything right until something goes left(I mean wrong) because hero sleeps off in the exam just like I used to doze off in my semester exams due to the night out  studying.

He somehow again manages to get away with it, but his root conditioning had true dharma imbibed in him which did not allow his consciousness to  snatch someone from  bearing fruit after his toil .And that’s that one leap of faith which affirms us that it is ok to“RELAX!!” you need not always grow really rich or successful in the eyes of the world and have the guilt in your heart for beating up someone somewhere, we can choose to make peace within our self and see how life unfolds itself much smoothly and that’s the end of the story..

Here is my honest and humble review about the movie “DRAGON” a good watch with new age comedy,engineering mass scenes.
